Materials

The library is grateful for gifts and donations. All gifts, once accepted,
become the sole property of McDonald County Library, and may not be
reclaimed by the donor. In accepting or declining any donation the librarian
and/or Board of Trustees will consider the donation’s role in helping the library
to fulfill its stated mission.
In accepting a gift of books, videos or audios the library makes the following
stipulations:
a. The library reserves the privilege of deciding whether gift material
should be added to its collection.
b. The library makes an effort to dispose to the best advantage all
gift material which is not added to the collection.
c. Proper use of the gift material will be determined by the librarian, and
may not be stipulated by the donor.
d. The librarian may decline or accept the donations of gifts of materials
for which the donor makes stipulations as to the use.
a. Gifts of money in which the donor makes no stipulation as to the
intended use will be accepted.
b. The librarian may decline or accept the donations of gifts of money in
the amount of $100 or less in which the donor makes stipulations as to the
intended use.
c. The Board may decline or accept the donations of gifts of money in
amounts in excess of $100 in which the donor makes stipulations as to the
intended use.
a. Because of the ongoing responsibilities involved in ownership,
donations of real property or stocks must be approved by the Board.
b. Acceptance of donations of other objects, such as artwork or
antiques, will be at the librarian’s discretion.
