The Jesse James Movie Digital Archive Project
The Jesse James Movie Digital Archive Project

One of 20th Century Fox's most successful early Technicolor movies, entitled: "Jesse James" - was filmed here in McDonald County in 1938.

Many of our local folks appeared as extras in the film, and thousands of tourists flocked to the area to see their favorite Hollywood film stars in action up close and personal!

Our library has held a special collection of photographs and memorabilia from that time, and that collection has been and continues to grow larger and even more interesting.
Recently, much of that collection has been "digitized" (scanned into computers) so that it can be easily viewed by the entire world over the Internet, without any further damage to the originals caused by physical handling.
