The McDonald County Library Obituary Database Project
To make it easier to search, this database has
vital information only... Names, maiden names, dates, cemeteries, and
newspaper of record. If you need a copy of the entire, original obituary, please contact the library staff.

Update: September 4, 2007 - Obituaries are back online! We've gone back to the old Obituary text search format, since the Alpha Five database system was far too unreliable (at least with our network).

We are offering the book:
Sturges History
of McDonald County
(approx. 292k)
It is in Adobe Acrobat format, so you will need the Acrobat Reader software installed on your computer if you wish to view and/or print it for your research and browsing pleasure.
The Sturges History of McDonald County,
Missouri was printed in 1897, and is in the public domain. This book has
been reconstructed from various sources, as a complete copy could not
be found. (If you happen to locate an original copy, we urge you to
contact us!)
Using the sources we could find, we have patched together this almost
99.9% complete copy for your research needs and browsing pleasure. When
our sources were missing parts of pages or were otherwise illegible, we
have inserted a placeholder such as: […????…]
For researcher’s convenience, we have sorted the Biographical listings
of Chapter 13 into alphabetical order. It was not so in the original
book. At the current time, we have not reproduced the book with page
numbers matching exactly to the original book. Perhaps if a complete
copy is ever found, we will reformat this reproduction to exactly
mirror the original.
We hope you enjoy this previously long-lost piece of our history!
The Jesse James Movie Digital Archive Project
The Photograph collection is available NOW!
One of 20th Century Fox's most
successful early Technicolor movies - "Jesse James" - was filmed here in
McDonald County in 1938.
Our library holds a facinating collection of original photographs,
memoribilia, and news clippings about this unique part of Missouri
history, and thanks to a recent LSTA Digitization grant award, we now
have the collection available online here!
