One sample of the types of Marriage License records: (The format varies by year, and the earliest records are handwritten in ledgers)
Additional
note: Records in book "TEMP"
will not have a license available for purchase. (Although an application
for marriage was completed and a license was issued, the couple never
returned the license to the Recorder of Deeds. Therefore, the license
was never filed with the State of Missouri and no official record is
available.)
