DIRECTORY OF
MCDONALD COUNTY, MISSOURI, CEMETERIES
Compiled by Rose Stauber and Joanne Fix
Copyright 2005 by Rose Stauber (Used
on the McDonald
County
Library website by permission of Rose Stauber.)
This directory is
intended as a comprehensive list of all cemeteries in
McDonald County, Missouri. Information included is the name of the
cemetery, the location by section, township, and range, brief
directions for locating the cemetery, and references where information
about the cemetery may be found. A list of the full titles of the
references is found at the end of the directory. Additional information
about some cemeteries may be given.
Over time a cemetery may have more than one name. We are giving the
name which seems in current use, particularly as found on signs. Other
names, when known, are noted and referenced in the directory.
While this directory is intended to be inclusive, many small, family,
or local cemeteries may lie hidden or destroyed about the county. We
continue to welcome information on any burial ground not included.
The road directions given for many cemeteries are all that is needed to
find a cemetery. For other cemeteries, a plat map will be needed to
look up the section, township, and range. Some commercial county maps
may include the information. Official plat maps are available at the
Assessor’s and Recorder’s offices at the
courthouse. Also check the McDonald County Library.
Cemeteries in use generally are open to the public, but many of the
older cemeteries are on private land and permission to visit should be
obtained.
