There’s a nip in the air, the days are growing shorter, and Old Man Winter is surely just around the corner. That can mean only one thing… It’s time once again for the annual Winterfest 5k Run and Walk in Anderson, MO!
The event will start at 8 am, Saturday, November 20th, at Anderson city hall. Registration starts at 7 am.
This is the 28th anniversary of the run. The newly formed Anderson Betterment Club is hosting it for 2010.
As was the case last year, money raised from the run will go to a local charity. Not only is it a chance to run off some extra calories before the holidays, it’s also a chance to help raise money for a good cause.
There’s also some extra bonuses for the early birds. We had a tremendous turnout last year, so we’ve upped the ante on shirts and goodie bags. The first 75 people to register for the race get a t-shirt with a new logo, a running Christmas ornament! We’re also once again giving “goody bags” to the first 75 registrants as well. So enter early.
Here are some other highlights carried over from last year’s run:
- The top three runners in each age category and the top three overall walkers will each receive customized Winterfest Christmas ornaments. Hang your prize on your Christmas tree, not around your neck!
- The coveted “Silver Shoe” award will be up for grabs this year. It’s the award for the person who brings the most participants to the run. So sign up and bring your friends and family! I believe last year’s record was 14.
